Botox Q & A

What is Botox?

Botox is a substance created from Clostridium botulinum found naturally in soil, forests, and lakes. Dangerous in specific concentrations, it's very safe and carefully controlled when the formulation is used for aesthetic and medical treatments.

This treatment has numerous medical applications and is FDA-approved in treating the following:

  • Frown lines between the brows
  • Forehead lines
  • Crow’s feet

Practitioners may also use Botox “off-label” to create effects in other areas of the face.

Other injectables like Xeomin® and Dysport® work in a similar manner. During your visit to L’Arte Di Vivere, your provider will explain the differences between these options and helps you choose the right fit for your needs and goals.

How does Botox work?

Botox is a neuromodulator that alters the treated muscles' ability to go through a full range of motion. When you have Botox, treated muscles can still create everyday facial expressions but won’t be strong enough to pull and tug your skin into lines and folds.

L’Arte Di Vivere has developed an in-depth familiarity with the way Botox treatments alter facial muscle movement. Practitioners can also create outstanding results in men, who have a different facial structure than women.

Is Botox painful?

It only takes a few seconds to place Botox, Xeomin, or Dysport injections. You might feel a slight pinch as the needle enters your skin, but there’s no significant pain associated with treatments.

If you have especially sensitive skin or have experienced discomfort during other injectable treatments, just let L’Arte Di Vivere know when you book your visit. Topical numbing cream can help reduce sensations in your treatment areas before injections.

How long do Botox results last?

It takes a few days for the full results of Botox and other neuromodulators to take effect. You can expect those results to last around four months. At that point, you may notice your lines and wrinkles slowly returning.

To extend your results, simply schedule another round of injections at L’Arte Di Vivere. Many people are so pleased with the results of Botox and other injections like Xeomin®, Dysport®, and fillers that they make treatment part of their ongoing anti-aging routine.

To schedule a visit, call L’Arte Di Vivere’s office during regular business hours, or access the online scheduling page any time of day.
