Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure that improves the appearance and health of the skin. During the treatment, a device containing fine, sterile needles creates tiny, controlled micro-injuries in the skin. These micro-injuries stimulate the body's natural healing process, encouraging the production of collagen and elastin, two proteins responsible for keeping the skin firm, smooth, and youthful.
Microneedling
Microneedling is commonly used to treat a variety of skin concerns, including acne scars, fine lines, wrinkles, enlarged pores, uneven skin texture, stretch marks, hyperpigmentation, and mild skin laxity. It can be performed on the face, neck, chest, hands, and other areas of the body. The procedure may also enhance the absorption of topical skincare products, making them more effective.
A typical microneedling session lasts between 30 and 60 minutes, depending on the treatment area. Before the procedure, a topical numbing cream is usually applied to minimize discomfort. After treatment, the skin may appear red and slightly swollen, similar to a mild sunburn, for one to three days. Most people can return to normal activities within 24–48 hours, although they should avoid direct sun exposure and use sunscreen regularly.
